Sent with the permission of the author... A South Sudanese Perspective on the Post-Election Violence in Kenya Jok Wel wrote: Dear Kenyans, It's painful for many South Sudanese to see Kenyans go down this direction. The experiences of war worry southern Sudanese for Kenya to go through. Kenya has been hosting southern Sudanese, Somalia, Ugandans, Ethiopian and perhaps the entire surrounding neighboring countries which hasn't relatively been in peace. The political, Spiritual leaders and all stake holders in Kenya have to unite the people and bring the African icon back. May understanding reign on Kenyan masses to realize that war will only brings hardship and the gains from war is always minimal. It would be so sad to see Kenyans take refuge in neighboring countries and goes through the hard life of a refugee. I trust that Kenya leaders understand that being a leader don't mean to attain respect or increase the income for your family, but it is to alleviate the life of the people you're representing as a leader. You Kenyans need to be remained that your pains could echoe to your neighboring brothers of southern Sudan, Somalia, and Ethiopian. To avoid these problems, you must urge your leaders to choose peace as an alternative to settle all the pending issues. You all must not advocate war, but peace. Peace must prevail! Tribalism will never bring prosperity to Kenya. It is hard for democracy to work in the countries which have multi-ethnic societies, but your country has managed. This is not a time for Kenya leadership to exit the road Kenya people must settle their differences cordially without inciting violence. You must bring peace know so that your country continue to be a master of peace in Africa. You are champions of peace and we southern Sudanese urges you not to remove your championship ring. Peace Oyee!!! Peace is the only option for the problems!! Jok Kuol Wel President, HELPSudan www.helpsudaninternational.org Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
