Why is the West Determined To Stop ODM from Taking Over from Kibaki at All Costs?

He is being referred to as tyrant, a dictator, an ethnic cleanser(after the election). This a man the Western powers are determined stop from proving that he is not what he is feared to be.

Kenya has never had a Luo president since independence in 1963. Yes, there was a Luo vice-president (Jaramogi Oginga Odinga) who never had a chance to do anything, leave alone be tyrant. This is the guy who was persuaded by the colonialists to grab the presidency of Kenya before Jomo Kenyatta was released from detention, but declined the offer because it would have been a colossal betrayal of the principles and causes for which many people were detained, suffered or paid the ultimate price (executed) at the hands of British colonialists. His ascending to power would have been self serving and he did not want any part of i!

His son, the so-called tyrannical dictator, Raila Odinga, galvanized Kenyans in 2002 to bring to an end the 25 years of Moi's dictatorial and murderous regime. During Moi's reign of terror, many people were killed, maimed or exiled. The people responsible for these horrible acts have never been charged with any crimes. Some are still in power or roaming the streets of Kenya.

RAILA ODINGA WORKED TO HELP KIBAKI RISE TO POWER. Is this the act of tyrant or is there something else being hidden by these relentless accusations launched at him?

Another defamatory claim is his so called involvement in 1982 attempted coup. If this sucker was implicated, why was he not executed by the rest. Moi was in power and could have done pretty much what he wanted with Raila whether or not he was involved in the attempted coup against Moi. The question Kenyans should be asking why was RAILA ODINGA LET GO if he was involved in 1982 attempted coup in which many people were murdered but WHO WERE THE REAL PEOPLE BEHIND THE COUP?

The articles in the link above suggests that a good African leader should be like Nelson Mandela, who was jailed for almost three decades while the murderous white regime in South Africa was busy killing Africans. THEY CALL THIS TURNING THE OTHER CHEEK.

Well, "turning the other cheek" must only be applied only to Afrcans and their leaders. They should be "good boys".

During the current negotiation/mediation between Kibaki and Raila, the wife of Nelson Mandela, Graca Machel whose late husband, Samora Machel, was killed in a plane "accident" was also wheeled in.

Many african leaders mediating the current Kenyan's crisis are bahaving like GOOD BOYS and GIRLS because they are being used the very people who do not give a damn whether the whole Africa's population is evaporated. They are helping sweep problems under the rugs in exchange for mediocre fees. All their clients care about is their bottom line(Africa's natural resources). Africas ruling elites have become instruments through which these resources leave the continent free of charge.

Description

When the plane of Mozambique's revolutionary leader, Samora Machel, crashed on the night of 19 October 1986 killing him and 34 others, Apartheid South Africa immediately blamed it on "pilot error."

"The Russian crew were high on Vodka," crowed Pik Botha, the then foreign minister. Now a new investigation into the crash is proving too hot for South Africa's hitherto "untouchables".

It was with deep consternation that Apartheid South Africa saw the passing of the Portuguese in Mozambique. The apartheid government dreaded the domino effect! A revolutionary government led by Samora Machel had taken over power in Mozambique on 25 June 1975, and had started nationalising Portuguese plantations and property. In addition, he was giving active support, and rear bases in Mozambique, to liberation groups fighting the white minority regimes in Rhodesia and South Africa.

In response, Apartheid South Africa and Rhodesia strangled the Mozambican economy, and created the Mozambican rebel group, Renamo, which set about killing peasants and destroying schools and hospitals built by Machel's Frelimo ruling party. But the South African support for Renamo and Rhodesia could not stop Zimbabwe's independence in 1980, after which South Africa grew even more desperate as the inevitable drew closer.

Meanwhile, Apartheid South African destabilisation of the young Mozambican state increased dramatically. Renamo became more vicious. And even though the Inkomati Accord, a non-aggression pact, had been signed between Mozambique and South Africa, Machel's continued support for Nelson Mandela's African National Congress (ANC) became a festering sore.

Thus, on 14 October 1986, Machel left his capital, Maputo, to attend a meeting of the frontline states. On the agenda was a coordinated effort to end apartheid in South Africa. Before his departure, Machel had organised a meeting with journalists, Frelimo party leaders and the Mozambican military and had told them that he had information that the South African government wanted him dead. He then left clear instructions on what to do in the event of his death.

On the night of 19 October, Machel was returning from the meeting when his plane, travelling over Zimbabwe towards Maputo, crashed into a hillside of the Lebombo Mountains, inside South Africa at Mbuzini, near the junction where the borders of Mozambique, Swaziland and South Africa meet. Interestingly, the crash site was also near a South African military air base in Komatipoort. In all, 34 people died, including Machel...

IT IS VERY DIFFICULT FOR AN AFRICAN TO UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE LIKE KOFI ANNAN AND GRACA MACHEL WUOLD BE HAPPY TO TURN THE OTHER CHEEK FOR PEOPLE WHO WILL NEVER TURN THE OTHER CHEEK TO ANYONE.  These Africans are telling us that our survival depends on our placing our tails between our legs. Even if that is accomplished, it will not be enough. They would rather we die in slums while waiting for World Food Programs, the food that is purchased from the farmers from the western countries.
