Wed, January 02, 2008 11:50 pm MARCH FOR PEACE AND JUSTICE Fellow Kenyans, We're waking up on a day that will define whether the fragile gains we've managed in the last couple of years will be preserved or eroded. As Kenyans march to the Uhuru Park, it's important that peace be upheld and that any acts that can cause the police to react violently be avoided. Indeed, as the Hon. Odinga asked us to do, let everybody who marches to the park wear the band and the scarf. This is a peace rally, not anything provocative, as the government wants to portray it. As our fellow compatriots march at home, be assured that Kenyans spread out in the diaspora are protesting at the Kenyan embassies abroad and are wearing the bands in solidarity. We intend not to relent until the democratically elected president of the nation is sworn in or an agreeable and sensible solution put in place. It has been one of the most trying periods in the nation's history, but we will overcome. If this robbery is allowed to stand, it will take years for Kenya to get back on track. That's why we must keep going forward, not backwards as Kibaki and his team of wazees want us to. So as you march today, think about our brothers and sisters who've died. Think about the property that's been destroyed across the nation. Think about the good image of Kenya that's been shattered because of the selfishness of people who think they're above the law. But above all, never lose sight of the fact that we shall overcome. The road to victory starts today. Sam Okello President & CEO Sahel Books Inc. P.o.
