It is 5.30 PM, Friday Kenya local time. My sources here in the US have discovered that both parties have agreed to to form a JOINT GOVERNMENT. As we speak, Mr. Annan is briefing both Mr. Kibaki and Odinga on the details of the next government... Official conference by Mr. Annan to follow soon. I wonder how long the joint government will last without addressing the root causes of this crisis. God help us all!!

Thank you D. Orao for the up to date correspondence.  We too are as uncertain today as we were yesterday of where these negotiations are headed...   We continue to doubt the practicality of a long-term power-sharing arrangement.
