IF ECK CAN EASILY CANCEL ELECTION RESULTS OF COUNCILLORS AND MPS , WHY CAN'T THEY DO THE SAME FOR THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS? THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS THEY ANNOUNCED THE WRONG GUY AS WINNER OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. HOW COME THEY CANCELLED ELECTION RESULTS OF TWO CONSTITUENCIES, REVERSED THE RESULTS OF 26 COUNCILLORS AND YET THEY DON'T WANT TO REVERSE THAT OF KIBAKI?

Electoral Commission of Kenya Chairman, Mr Samuel Kivuitu, has revoked the names of 26 councillors who had erroneously been declared elected. In a Gazette notice dated yesterday, Kivuitu announced the changes and the names of bona fide winners.

According to the amendments, ODM had been awarded eight seats by mistake but lost seven seats at the same time.

Other parties affected were ODM-Kenya, DP and Kenya Peoples Congress.

ODM-Kenya, which gained one seat, lost another after the amendments.

The gazette notice showed that in Alango Arba location in Lagdera, Mr Mohamed Abdi Musa of DP had been declared winner whereas the real winner was Mr Mohamed Hussein Duale.

In Mandera Central, the names of Ibrahim Ibren Ali (ODM) and Mr Ibrahim Mohamed Farah (Safina) had been interchanged with those of Mr Baraka Osman Abdi (Kenda) and Mr Madey Adan Ali.

In Nithi constituency, Gibson Kinyua (DP) had been denied victory, which was handed to DP’s Erastus Kinyua. In the same constituency Mr Patrison Mbogo is the new councillor for Lithuania-Mariana ward.

Similar mistakes had been made in Langas ward in Eldoret South, Lodogonjek in Samburu West, Murinduko ward in Mwea and Tulaga Munyaka in Kinangop.

Kivuitu’s notice further seeks to rectify anomalies in Nyabasi and Gitwembe wards in Kuria constituency.
