Exercise #1. Who am I?

Between now and your Meetup date, get as much information as you can about your family tree from friends or relatives and start making one. It does not have to be anything fancy. Something done on an Excel spreadsheet or word processor will suffice.

A good place to get some information to help you fill in the blanks about the older generation is at http://www.jaluo.com , thanks to the contributions ofOgello mak’Okullo (wuonabila@jaluo.com ).

Here are the links you may find most relevant.

Please see the Karateng’ family tree example. It is still a job in progress, and looking for more volunteers and information to fill in the blanks, but it gives you an idea.

exercise #2. Where do I come from?

Also in readiness for the Meetup, on a separate sheet of paper, write down your village tree from the perspective of yourclan. This may be your great…………grandpa. Then fill out all the features about your village. Again see the 15 village Karateng’ tree example for help.

Exercise #3. Who are you? Where do you come from?

Bring Exercises #1 and #2 to the Meetup.Share your information with others. You will be pleasantly surprised how much fun you derive from these exercises. You may also find someone there who has the information you are looking for to complete blanks in your tree. Also bring a Luo dish to the meeting if you can. Bring the kids along if the meeting is in an environment that allows their presence.

Exercise #4. What can we do for ourselves together?

Have someone volunteer to chair the meeting and another to write down your thoughts.

Discuss the issues that bother your individual development

Discuss the issues that bother your village.

Discuss the good things about your village.

Discuss what you want for your village.

Discuss your clan issues also.

Discuss Culture.

Discuss any other issues arising. .

Exercise # 5. How can Luocome help?

The secretary please forward the discussion of the day to me odundo@jaluo.com .

Also individually or through the secretary, please forward to me your exercise #1 and #2.
